'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the dramatic dying seconds of Swansea's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear amid the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful shot from outside the box, and the defender quickly converted the deflection before charging toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The result sealed an unbelievable recovery given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. Amid the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan sort of calling out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory secured a upcoming game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's first-time shot from about way out going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that range," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right flank after the team changed shape. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the City players who paid tribute to the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are exceptional but even the basics and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they understand how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has rapidly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a loan at League Two Salford City, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that growth for his team and nation, excelling for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This represents an incredible journey for the kid from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside the capital, who used to see his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

His sole appearance for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was sealed owing to temperatures of -15C. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he comments, smiling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "This turned out fairly simple, because I reached the point where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I thought I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

New Environment

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, the drivers, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, another squad member, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to spend time with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and driving. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on public transport after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
